What do you get when you combine 5 perfect days at the beautiful Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, classes with some of the best photographers and educators in the industry, and time spent with some incredibly talented and like minded artists? You get renewed, refreshed, inspired, encouraged, a new vision, new friends, awards, and even a new head shot!!
SYNC is a photography conference with an emphasis on high school senior photography. As excited as I was to attend the classes, the best part was getting to spend time with like minded artists and creatives. These ladies are like sisters to me. Being able to spend time with friends who share the same passion is therapeutic. During our time together in Sandestin, and since returning, we've been able to bounce ideas off of each other, encourage one another, offer constructive critiques, and share more than a few laughs. Even though we are spread from Alabama, to Missouri, to New York, we share an unbreakable bond. Most of us will be reuniting next month as we meet in St. Louis for another one of my favorite photography conferences, Shutter Fest.
One of the perks of spending time with fellow photographers is that we did get the opportunity to update head shots. A huge thank you to Lori Brady (photography) and Karen Stenseth (lighting) for the new head shot. I was long overdue!
Having had two of my image panels merit at SYNC and having one of the panels win the Judges Choice Award, I returned encouraged. Like most artists, I tend to be my own worst critic. That's not necessarily a bad thing as it pushes me to work harder to improve my skills and expand my creativity. Being recognized for my work is an honor and a confirmation that I am on the right track and moving forward! I don't ever want to stop learning and growing as an artist. One of the best ways that I have found to learn new techniques and fuel my creative spirit is to allocate time and funds each year towards education. Attending SYNC has recharged my batteries and I've already registered for next year!
Returning from SYNC with so many new ideas, I can not wait to try some of them out with my upcoming group of 2018 seniors! I also have a brand new product that I'm excited to share with my clients. Upcoming seniors... it is NOT to early to book your session. I have a limited number of bookings available. If you are looking for an experience that will be one of the highlights of your senior year, contact me! I am currently setting appointments for free, no obligation consultations.
